Random Aside #5

By on Saturday, 21st April 2007 at 6:24 pm

Today’s useless fact: a roll of magic tape (that white tape that goes invisible) costs £2.56 a roll to the council, and a roll of conventional Sellotape costs 8p.

However sellotape dries all yellow and sticky, and the magic tape is prone to stretch.

Which is why of course we use sellotape on book jackets, and magic tape to stick notes on trolleys. Because people love a yellow sticky mess on their ancient books. And we need to affix random notes to trolleys that transport books around with an expensive bit of sticky tape when its only going to be on there for 5 minutes.

This is all the opposite of what we received an email about (yes, we got an email about sticky tape).

Don’t you just love local government bureaucracy?
