Bands To Watch #53 – You Me at Six

With the recent release of their new album, Take off Your Colours, You Me at Six has been grabbing the attention of many. Originating from Surrey, the band has been compared with the greats of pop punk like Taking Back Sunday and Panic! At The Disco which really isn’t surprising when you listen to the quality of music these guys produce.
This quality has earned them support slots with Chicago’s big hitters “The Audition” but in a year’s time or so it is easy to imagine reviewing the next wave of pop punk bands that have managed to get a support slot with You Me at Six. Explosive tracks like “Save it for the bedroom” display the characteristics of the band so well including catchy riffs and melodies alongside chorus chants and pounding bass lines while the track “The Rumour” shows off the bands epic sound with a slightly slower tempo.
The pop punk scene has been accused of getting saturated of bands that are carbon copies of others but if you are looking for originality, depth and variety, just check out the bands inventive cover of Rhianna’s Umbrella. At the moment the U.K’s big rock outfits tend to have a classic British sound but it is rare that they can set both the U.S and U.K charts alight. You Me at Six however have a sound that has all the style and sheer craft to take on the top of both charts.
