Blur Reformed!

One of the biggest music headlines and shocks of recent times has to be the reformation of Blur. Tuesday 9th of December was when the group let the press know of a planned gig in London’s Hyde Park next year in July. It’s been about a decade since the band have even met up properly and the guys have been far from quiet with bassist Alex James becoming a presenter of documentaries, and judge on BBC’s sound while Graham Coxon had a decent solo career and Damon Albarn revolutionised opera with Journey to the west, not forgetting the whole Gorillaz thing as well.

The members of Blur seem keen to still keep a few surprises up their sleeve but hints at additional concerts in Wolverhampton and their home county Essex have been suggested by Damon who says the thought of playing in a four piece again is terrifying. Dave Rowntree, often though as the quiet one has also been busy trying to make it from Blur to Blair by standing as a labour party candidate.

It’s safe to say whatever the band members are doing and when, they always seem to bring something extraordinary so the prospect of the band being together again is hard to take. No one knows what to expect next year but it is sure to be a show and a half while old rivals Oasis have been busy lately and hits have been climbing the charts. Surely there can’t be another race to number one between these two Brit Rock titans.
