MP3 of the Day #26: Ben Folds

By on Monday, 23rd March 2009 at 10:00 am

I haven’t written enough here about Ben Folds. He’s pretty much legendary in my eyes, putting on some of the best shows I’ve seen in a long time.

And he’s got a new album out at the end of April. Well, not new-new, it’s a selection of his songs done A-Capella… genius.

Via Stereogum:

Over two months, he, his wife Fleur, and engineer Joe Costa recorded the tracks themselves. The sounds were all captured with six area mics. Each session got four hours. This is raw a cappella, people. And, as Folds says, “This is not a novelty .. I consider this my new record…I’m incredibly proud of this.”

Download and enjoy “Not the Same” below.
