Bands to Watch #114: Daisy Dares You

Okay, so as many of you readers have been around for a while will know, I have no hard-and-fast music policy here at TGTF. Therefore, please welcome your new favourite guilty pleasure of 2009, Daisy Dares You. Think of an English Avril Lavigne, a poppier Good Natured (introduced here), or just a one person Girls Aloud and you’ll be halfway there.
At only 15 years old, she’s already bagged herself a Guardian New Band of the Day piece, and a tonne of “people in the know” have been scrambling for the bragging rights of having signed her. Electro pop perfection, everyone has been raving about “Number One Enemy”, however personally I love “Talk About The Weather” – a wonderfully complete sounding potential radio smash. Working with collaborator Matthew Marston, Daisy Coburn may only have four tracks on her MySpace page, but from the catchy, Avril Lavigne styled anthemic “Number One Enemy”, to the introspective “Next Few Minutes” they’re all sounding pretty immense already.
It’s the sort of stuff you can imagine crazy amounts of people (and radio stuff) going crazy over at the moment – it’s La Roux sassy, Lily Allen fun and Kate Nash simple – what more could you possibly want from some pop? Definately one to watch over the coming months.
You can get a free MP3 track by signing up to her mailing list over here – go go go!
