Bands to Watch #136: Ou Est Le Swimming Pool

Today, we’d like to introduce Ou Est Le Swimming Pool
They Say:
If you could mix up Pet Shop Boys, Human League, Run DMC, Yazoo and Japan in a blender, with a side order of Ultravox, Liasons Dangereuses and Duran Duran, then I reckon you’d be somewhere near Le Pool’s sound.
Ou Est Le Swimming Pool are a shiny new electro- pop outfit hailing from North London. They’ve shared stages with the likes of Sam Sparro, Mr. Hudson, Cypress Hill and Reverend And The Makers as well as packing out their own gigs with their own brand of infectious pop.
Ou Est started life as a 3 piece when founding member Charles Haddon moved to Camden in 2008 where he met locals Joe Hutchinson and Caan Capan. Within a month of the trio’s paths first crossing, ‘Ou Est Le Swimming Pool’ was born. The band had just started to make music together when they met production wizard Anders Kallmark who was instantly spellbound and asked if he could come aboard.

We Say:
Drawing on tonnes of 80s influences (Pet Shop Boys / Human League anyone?) but updated to modern standards (Passion Pit / La Roux style), they’re pretty darned amazing. They are the sort of band that will keep both clubbers and music snobs happy, and this is just the reason they’ve been getting coverage from all good media outlets.
You Say:
Their new single, Dance the Way I Feel (for which we featured the video for yesterday), is out on 2nd November and has every right to be a massive hit. Put the date in your diary and buy it.
