Video of the Moment #191: Arctic Monkeys

Yes, I know it’s horribly late in the game. But it’s only recently that I’ve started to appreciate the eloquence of Alex Turner‘s lyrics. Who writes stuff like “I elongated my lift home” and “I kept my shortcuts to myself“? It’s like Morrissey‘s ‘Driving Your Girlfriend Home’ but better.
Check out the lo-fi video for the Arctic Monkeys‘ latest single, ‘Cornerstone’. The headphoned Turner reminded me of a very young Macca. I suppose the band thought this sentimental ballad could stand up on its own without some high budget video. And I wholeheartedly agree.
By the way – Alex, you can call me anything you want.
