Video of the Moment #210: Delorentos

Here at Theregoesthefear, we get a LOT of CD submissions. A LOT. I’m not gonna lie to you – most of them aren’t amazing, pretty standard stuff, nothing amazing. However every so often something stands out from the selection, something that might not go on to be a number 1 album, but nonetheless is instantly memorable.

In the case of Dublin’s Delorentos, their debut UK album “You Can Make Sound” is the sort that isn’t the most innovative, isn’t the most excitingly hip of albums but will slowly pick away at your heart whilst having you humming along to it. First single “S.E.C.R.E.T.” Is the sort of driving pogo-punk that will have fists in the air and your feet all-a-tapping.

Billed as both a “break up and a reconciliation” album, it draws plenty of comparisons from Interpol and Editors, to Franz Ferdinand and Bloc Party. “You Can Make Sound” is a perfect driving record – loud, sing-alongable and just makes you want to career a bit too fast through the Italian hills.

It may not have the mass-market appeal of Arctic Monkeys or the cool-ness of bands like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but it is a strong album that will have your heart, feet and mind begging to hear it again. Here’s the video to S.E.C.R.E.T. which will have you humming along to yourself for days.

Delorentos’ debut UK album, ‘You Can Make Sound’, is out on 5th April, and is preceded by the single ‘S.E.C.R.E.T’ on 1st March
