MP3 of the Day #172: Capital

A blend of Arcade Fire coupled with a vocal tinge of Robert Smith from The Cure, and you’ve got yourself the smallest nutshell description of an emerging band called Capital. There’s not a slew of information about the band itself yet, but that will all change with their full length album, “Force Is Not A Remedy” comes out next month – May 24th to be exact.
For now, though, do yourself the favor of checking out their lead single, “Starlit City” which became available this Monday, April 26th. From the dark, evocative opening lines that beg “So when did we start to look so strange?” to the soaring, climatic melody, there’s a lingering enjoyment with the track that will simply leave you wanting more. Indeed, what we hear is a song that kicks off with mystery and then some 90 seconds later, a veil has lifted. As a result, the song evolves into an upbeat number with enough space to create some beautifully infectious noise.
Oh, and one more thing, Capital’s debut release next month will be a pay what you want/ free download. But really, after hearing a song such as “Starlit City”, this talented bunch is worth several coin drops in the bucket. Do check them out and support a band who are brimming with future success
