Video of the Moment #263: The Big Pink

By on Friday, 30th April 2010 at 6:00 pm

Coming off the strong 2009 release of their debut album ‘A Brief History of Love’, the Big Pink are riding high and scheduled to perform at a bunch of summer festivals including Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, and Wireless. Somehow in between supporting Muse and headlining several tours, they squeezed in a session to perform the track ‘Crystal Visions’ at the Debonair Social Club in Chicago.

The video is the first in what sounds like will be a unique series called ‘FOR NO ONE’, described as “an intimate glimpse of bands playing to a room without a crowd. For each installment, a different band is offered an opportunity to perform any song from their catalogue in an empty space.” Watch the fantastic performance below. (What do you reckon, is the series named after the Beatles song? And is Robbie Furze covering the xx’s song ‘Crystalised’ over the ending credits?)

The latest single from the Big Pink, ‘Tonight’, was released on 26 April by 4AD and is available now on 7″ and digitally. Its B-side is their cover of Beyonce’s hit ‘Sweet Dreams’.
