Samsung launch their own “Battle of the Bands” competition

It’s that time of the year again with “Battle of the Bands” competitions are taking place to find the best in unsigned talent, offering everything from opening V Festival to opening a village fete. However, Samsung have launched their own Battle of the Bands competition offering the winners a rather impressive £10,000 worth of studio time. Here at TGTF we’ve been a big fan of the bands found through the likes of Road to V (Bombay Bicycle Club anyone?) and Orange UnsignedAct (Bo Bruce looks set to be a rising star of 2010), hopefully this one might find a new rising star.
The “Monte Battle of the Bands” (to give it its full name) events take place at three shopping centres – Westfield in Dudley (this weekend, 22nd-23rd May), The Centre:MK, Milton Keynes (Bank Holiday weekend, 29th-30th May) and Manchester’s Arndale (the following weekend, 5th-6th June). Each of the events will be headlined by a trio of ace bands – Johnny Foreigner (pictured top), Jonquil and Fran and Josh. Frankly, if the unsigned bands can play a shopping centre and not want to kill themselves, I think they deserve to be huge.
Those wishing to enter need to sign up and submit a video of their band performing – the best talent will then be invited to battle against each other and have their performances uploaded to the web site after the events. The public will then vote online to decide the overall winners who will receive £10,000 of production time at a “well renowned” recording studio.
To celebrate this rather fab competition, we’ll be (hopefully) giving away a brand new Samsung Monte later in the week.

We’re Push Kodi and we’re playing at the Arndale Centre in Manchester. Can’t wait, I can do some shopping afterwards.
