Everyone knows that dismissing an album is awfully easy to do. The hard part, however, is putting words to describe something that is incredible. In this case, Essex four-piece I Dream In Colour have made a brilliant EP. Thus, penning words to give the piece of work justice is all the more difficult. Thanks a lot, guys!

All five tracks off ‘The Boiler Room’ are nothing short of spellbinding. To kick it all off, there’s the raw, emotional track “Get Along” that soars to a beat of Richard Judge’s heart as he pleads and ponders the complexities of relationships. For fans of English bands from the ‘80s, this song could go down as one of Echo and the Bunnymen’s own.

That should tell you a thing or two of what a talented group this bunch is. And if not, then take a listen to ‘Reigns’, an upbeat track that thumps and grooves to Judge’s vocals, which sound reminiscent of much younger and energetic Fran Healy and Thom Yorke. The craftily arranged will surely have listeners putting this particular track on constant repeat.

Still, perhaps the most infectious and hauntingly beautiful song is the EP’s signature track, ‘The Boiler Room’ where Judge’s power lungs heard in previous tracks transcends into a frail, angelic voice that laments of men who have “money on their minds” provides a perfect slow burner song to finish a very enjoyable EP.

Through their tight sound and unique vocals, I Dream In Colour clearly having something special that goes beyond most other bands these days. And so the anticipation for the full-length album builds…

‘The Boiler Room’ EP is available now from iTunes. I Dream in Colour goes on tour starting the 4th of October in Coventry.
