Video of the Moment #436: Pearl and the Puppets

By on Tuesday, 22nd March 2011 at 6:00 pm

I can’t keep up, there are too many small scale video ‘companies’ popping up, filming all my favourite artists in acoustic settings. This time, it’s Secret Sessions on location at Hoxton Square during their ‘Queen Week’ with Pearl and the Puppets. Well, actually, it’s just Pearl (Katie Sutherland) sans the Puppets, and she’s doing her version of the ’70s band’s hit ‘Somebody to Love’. It’s actually refreshing not to have all that extra orchestration muddling up the track for once. And it’s somewhat surreal to hear the engines of black cabs go by in the background (don’t laugh, but yes: oddly, I’ve picked up the fact that taxi cab engines sound different in Britain than they do in America). Watch and listen to this cover below.
