Video of the Moment #503: Friendly Fires
I have to admit that the song ‘Hawaiian Air’ from Friendly Fires‘s latest album ‘Pala’ (reviewed here, then reconsidered after an in-person interview with Edd Gibson and Jack Savidge and their live performance in DC in late May) is a bit silly. But as such, the boys have made a rather silly video – the first video from any song on ‘Pala’ in fact – to go with the song, basically doing a bad job “advertising” the fictitious Hawaiian Air carrier. After a while, you have to sympathise with poor Ed Macfarlane. Even his bandmates are annoying him. He just can’t cut a break! But his perseverance is rewarded. You are left wondering how this man ended up being born in St. Albans instead of the tropics.
And what is up with rock stars getting their hair ruffled in music videos these days? We’ve got another video early next week on TGTF with something similar (though not with a little kid involved…)
