MP3(s) of the Day #377: Foster the People and Grouplove Remix Each Other’s Songs

By on Thursday, 11th August 2011 at 10:00 am

Two bands you’re hearing a lot about lately: Foster the People and Grouplove (pictured above). And with good reason: both groups have put out releases this year that have been eaten up by the fans, and both groups’ shows are riotous affairs. (No, not that kind of riot. The well-controlled, “let’s have a good time and not trash the place” kind of riot found in your respectable neighbourhood dance club.)

Not sure who masterminded this mini remix project – maybe they agreed to do this over some beers like Friendly Fires and Holy Ghost!‘s decision to do covers of each other’s songs last year? Or maybe it was entirely corporate and Foster the People’s suits sat down with Grouplove’s? However this came about, you, dear reader, benefit because we have two great free remixes for you today. Grouplove try their hand in reinterpreting the now famous ‘Pumped Up Kicks’, and Mark Foster and co. do their best (or depending on your opinion, worst) to ‘Colours’. Both of these remixes are radically different from the originals and I can see them being entirely polarising – you’re either going to love ’em or hate ’em.
