Video of the Moment #595: Ryan Adams

By on Friday, 7th October 2011 at 6:00 pm

According to a Dave Simpson article in the Guardian in late September, we know who to thank for the strength of songs on Ryan Adams‘s forthcoming album ‘Ashes and Fire’. Laura Marling. Does this sound unlikely? This is how the story goes: Adams was sent Marling’s second album ‘I Speak Because I Can’ and spurred on by Marling’s talent, he decided to ditch the majority of what he had written for a new album so he could essentially start over. Judging from this acoustic studio video the man taped of the title track, hearing Marling’s songs was just what the doctor ordered.

‘Ashes and Fire’ will be released in the UK on Pax-AM / Sony on the 10th of October (next Monday). Adams will be playing a few dates in the UK in late October and early November; all but one (Edinburgh Festival Theatre on the 30th of October) are sold out.

Thursday 27th October 2011 – London Union Chapel (sold out)
Friday 28th October – York Royal Opera House (sold out)
Sunday 30th October 2011 – Edinburgh Festival Theatre
Tuesday 1st November 2011 – London Cadogan Hall (sold out)
