(Jubilee Guilty Pleasure!) Video(s) of the Moment #821: Chicago

Editor’s note: do not adjust your screen. Yes, we’re airing some of our (and some of your!) favourite song guilty pleasures in video form this Jubilee weekend. The bands were featuring are largely not the kind we write about here on TGTF, but we wanted to do something new and cool over this 4-day weekend. Come along for the crazy ride and enjoy.
We’re bringing you more cheese. In the form of Chicago. In my eyes, their golden period was when Peter Cetera was at the helm. You know you’ve made it when a song of yours (‘If You Leave Me Now’) gets sung by a sock puppet in a tv advert. And ‘You’re the Inspiration’ must have been the wedding song for countless couples in the ’80s. This is one band you couldn’t escape. Why would you want to? If you think about it, back then music wasn’t really all that complicated. What mattered was a good melody and good lyrics.
In the post-Cetera years, the band had a new lease on life when the Tom Cruise film called Cocktail came along to give them another hit, ‘Look Away’. Like I said, Chicago is pure cheese. But if loving Chicago is wrong, I don’t wanna be right.
