What happens when you let Claire Boucher (aka Grimes) loose and allow her to direct her own video? This video for ‘Genesis’, that’s what. Whether it’s frolicking in the desert on platform trainers in the dark with nothing but car headlamps to light the way, waving a sword around while standing in the ocean looking like a Hindu god or playing with a snake in the backseat of a limousine while dressed like even more cartoony than we thought possible in a Sailor Moon outfit, Grimes (with loads of her female buddies) makes up her own rules, and we applaud her for that.
