Not ones to shy away from the dramatic, Hurts‘ ‘Somebody to Die For’ insists “I don’t need this life / I just need somebody to die for”. Even if you hate the premise of the song, you have to admit, the song as a whole is pretty damn anthemic. Before you go slitting your wrists for Theo Hutchcraft, have a listen and watch to the accompanying promo video below, which is filled with the kind of religious imagery you’d kind of expect with this kind of dramatism.
