(Olympics 2014 flavoured!) Video of the Moment #1447: Villagers

By on Monday, 10th February 2014 at 6:00 pm

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that the 2014 Winter Olympics are now taking place in Sochi, Russia and you’ve already watched this amazing performance of the Russian police force performing Daft Punk‘s ‘Get Lucky’ here. Russian president Vladimir Putin has been getting a lot of flak (and rightly so, we think) for some of his administration’s policies, including the Pussy Riot debacle and more recently when it comes to the Olympics, anti-gay policies. We generally don’t get involved in politics here at TGTF but in this case, we didn’t have to, Conor J. O’Brien of Villagers did it for us.

This promo for new song ‘Occupy Your Mind’ is prefaced simply with this note from O’Brien: “In the advent of the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, please find attached a song written for you, your mother, your father and your gay brothers and sisters in Russia”. The song will be released as a single on Domino on the 31st of March. Watch the video below.
