Video of the Moment #1509: The Honey Ants

By on Thursday, 1st May 2014 at 6:00 pm

Folk-pop duo The Honey Ants have just announced their second single release ‘Lies (See You Again)’, due out in digital format on the 5th of May. As with their previous single, ‘Give Me Arms’, the emotional expressivity of this song hinges on the flawlessly executed vocal harmonies of John Grimsey and Rebecca Hamer, but the pair have added hints of piano and percussion to their instrumental repertoire, as well as layered backing vocals for greater dynamic effect.

Ahead of the single release, The Honey Ants have shared their simple yet effective black and white video for the song. Visual attention is clearly directed to the singers’ faces, just as the musical emphasis is squarely on their voices, and the distinction between the sharp focus on Grimsey and the more diffuse light behind Hamer is a nice analogy to the tonal contrast of their voices.

The Honey Ants are scheduled to perform at Shoreditch Workshop on the 8th of May and at the Camden Rocks festival on the 31st of May.
