Video of the Moment #1671: Tim Wheeler

Often when songwriters address subject matter that is deeply personal to them, the language in their lyrics becomes either overly metaphorical or cryptically vague. Not so in the case of Tim Wheeler, whose debut solo album (outside his duties as frontman of Ash) deals with the loss of his father to dementia. The album, titled ‘Lost Domain’, is due out this Monday, the 10th of November, and will include the lyrically direct and emotionally poignant track ‘Vigil’, featured below.
Speaking of the album as a whole, Wheeler says, “After losing my father to dementia, I felt the need to personally do something to fight Alzheimer’s. My friend Neil Hannon from The Divine Comedy’s father also has Alzheimer’s, so we put on a concert in Belfast in November 2011 with The Divine Comedy, The Undertones and Ash to raise funds and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Society. Since then I’ve had close links with The Alzheimer’s Society and this year was involved with the Dementia Friends campaign. I’m proud to continue to support them and raise more awareness with the album ‘Lost Domain’”. Wheeler just finished playing a short list of live dates in support of the new album.
