Video of the Moment #1729: Stornoway

Stornoway now have a promo video for ‘The Road You Didn’t Take’, the lead single from their upcoming third album, which was shrouded in mystery until yesterday.
‘Bonxie’, which is also the Shetland nickname for the seabird the great skua, will be released on the 13th of April on the band’s new label Cooking Vinyl. Bonxies are known to be strong, powerful and determined, so by taking this bird of prey as the album’s spirit animal, if you will, all signs point towards this new effort from the Oxford band being their most arresting yet. Doctorate of ornithology-holding singer Brian Briggs says of the making of the new album, “I wanted a shake up and I wanted to feel more connected to the outdoors – I wanted to feel small.”
In the new promo for ‘The Road You Didn’t Take’, the beauty of the song is matched with images of travel in the city and the countryside, I’m guessing purposely made blurry and quick moving to represent the freneticism of human lives and our disconnect with the grandeur of nature. Watch it below. The single will drop on the 16th of February. More on the song can be read in my previous In the Post for it.
