Video of the Moment #1934: Blossoms

Since the time I first saw them play the BBC Introducing showcase Wednesday night at SXSW 2015 back in March, the career of Northern group Blossoms has just been skyrocketing. Back in August, they Stockport band signed to major Virgin EMI, which bodes well seeing that they were working on recording their debut album this summer at Parr Street Studios in Liverpool. In other words, Blossoms fans, the album can’t be too far away. Good news!

The latest video to be released by the band is for single ‘Charlemagne’, which has already been rocking it out on sales. The song sees the band take a step back from the psych rock and pop sensibilities of some of their previous singles – ‘Cut Me and I’ll Bleed’ and the epic ‘Blown Rose’, respectively – for…wait for it…synthpop? That’s right. And it’s done in such a catchy style, this is one earworm not soon to leave your head anytime soon. Watch the promo video for ‘Charlemagne’ below.

For past coverage of Blossoms on TGTF, including my report from their Dr. Martens gig at the Great Escape 2015 where they had a devoted fan and dad-dancer, go here.
