Video(s) of the Moment #1945: EL VY

By on Saturday, 31st October 2015 at 10:00 am

EL VY – aka the still relatively new side project of The National‘s Matt Berninger and Brent Knopf (Menomena, Ramona Falls) – released their debut album ‘Return to the Moon’ yesterday on 4AD Records. Carrie reviewed the title track when its lyric video appeared on the scene back in August; read her review here.

The latest lyric videos from EL VY, part of what has been an ongoing series, are for ‘Need a Friend’ and ‘Silent Ivy Hotel’ from the album. The video of the former includes live clips of Berninger and Knopf performing with Andy Stack of Baltimore band Wye Oak on drums and Matt Sheehy of Lost Lander on bass, as well as clips of Berninger touring his hometown of Cincinnati by bicycle. The promo for ‘Silent Ivy Hotel’ was revealed last Thursday and maybe as should be expected, given the timing, it’s appropriately Halloween themed. Watch the videos below.
