SXSW 2016: Interview with Alex Robertshaw of Everything Everything

An appearance in Austin for SXSW has proved elusive to Manchester’s Everything Everything. However, the stars aligned just right last week at SXSW 2016, allowing Jon, Alex, Jeremy and Mike to make the journey over for the world’s biggest emerging music festival. Re-reading that sentence over, it seems strange that the band haven’t played it in years, considering they are already three albums into their career and with no signs of slowing down or compromising their artistic principles.
The day after arriving in the Lone Star State, the band were already hard at work, playing an afternoon show in the sweltering heat and relative lack of shelter on the FLOODfest stage at Cedar Street Courtyard Wednesday. After catching his breath, I was kindly joined with lead guitarist Alex Robertshaw (pictured at far left in the header pic) to talk about their upcoming support slot with TGTF mates The Joy Formidable on their first major touring campaign across North America. We also chat about the new lease on life their released in the UK in summer 2015 third album ‘Get to Heaven’ is getting with its recent release on this side of the pond and what it means to play for American audiences instead of the UK / European ones they’ve already played this album for. I also get some insight on an upcoming – and well deserved, if you ask me! – holiday he has planned in our country. Have a listen below. Many thanks to Alexandra for help in sorting this interview.
