Field Music / October 2016 English Tour

David and Peter Brewis – known as Field Music when they’re not busy with one of their many side projects solo or with other people – have announced a trio of tour dates for this autumn. They’ve got three shows in England with their full band to take current album ‘Commontime’, released back in February ahead of the 6 Music Festival 2016. (You can read my review of the long player here.) Tickets are on sale now for these shows.
While I’ve got your attention (and as yesterday was Independence Day here in America too), I wanted to tell you about the other thing those prolific Brewis brothers have been up to. On Sunday the 10th of July, Asunder, a new film chronicling the North East’s involvement in the Battle of the Somme will be premiering at the Sunderland Empire. The live score to accompany the film was written by the brothers and will be performed by Field Music alongside Royal Northern Sinfonia and Warm Digits. The artistic collaboration also involved award-winning British artist and filmmaker Esther Johnson and respected music writer, film producer, curator and member of best-selling pop band Saint Etienne, Bob Stanley. Fellow Sunderland quartet The Cornshed Sisters will also perform an a cappella rendition of traditional Wearside folk tune ‘The Rigs of Sunderland Fair’.
Saturday 22nd October 2016 – Gateshead Sage
Wednesday 26th October 2016 – London Shepherds Bush Empire
Saturday 29th October 2016 – Manchester Ritz
