Video of the Moment #2353: Rainy Milo

We preview and cover so many acts that are earmarked to appear at SXSW each go-around. In between the last effort and before the next, I do wonder after the year they’ve received a shout what’s happened to them. The list of SXSW ‘where are they now?’ artists includes Rainy Milo, who got a shout for SXSW 2015. Following David’s Bands to Watch piece on her, I’m glad we finally have some new news.

Out now, ‘Swimming on Me’ is a new single from Rainy Milo’s upcoming EP, “6 tracks of hyper-modern jazz-influenced r&b”. It represents the South London singer’s first release since age 17. She says of the single, “‘Swimming On Me’ is one of the most ‘in my feelings’ moments I think I’ve ever allowed myself to be on a track. I have so much love for this song for that reason, even though the foundation of the song itself was built on contempt and a very particular type of pain. One that I’m sure many people who hear this track will have felt before.” The young artist’s creativity also extended into the video too: “When I was writing the treatment for the video I knew I wanted a visual that represented the reflection of a relationship gone wrong that is in the lyrics of the song and also the feelings of loneliness but knowing sometimes you have to go solo for the best.” A good sentiment for strong women everywhere. Watch the video for ‘Swimming on Me’ below. The single is out now on Limey Records, named of course after her famed 2012 debut mixtape ‘Limey’.
