Video of the Moment #2802: Everything Everything

With all the excitement here at TGTF Towers, I nearly missed the news that Everything Everything had just released a new EP. ‘A Deeper Sea’ sports four new tracks: two studio recordings, a Tom Vek remix of 2017 album ‘A Fever Dream’ track ‘Ivory Tower’ and a live recording of a cover of Neil Young’s ‘Don’t Let It Bring You Down’ recorded live at Maida Vale. Of the two brand new EE tracks, I’m going to leave it to frontman and lyricist Jonathan Higgs to explain the crux of ‘The Mariana’ and its video:
The song talks about male identity and the current high rate of suicide among men in the UK, I wanted to capture some men in a natural setting – no actors or contrived sequences. I settled on amateur football as it’s so closely allied to male identity, and a game is a good place to look for unguarded emotions, separate from the everyday. We filmed The Granada Old Boys at Manchester Tennis and Football Centre, in the shadow of the Etihad Stadium.
Watch the video below. In case you missed the promo for ‘Breadwinner’, the other new track on the EP, it’s here on YouTube. For all of our past coverage on Everything Everything, come through.
