Video of the Moment #2836: Parquet Courts

Not long now until we get the new Parquet Courts record. The delightfully anarchic group from Brooklyn are doing something different this time around: Danger Mouse produced ‘Wide Awake!’ but at the same time, judging from ‘Almost Had to Start a Fight/In and Out of Patience’, they’re still keen on making a big noise. Or so I thought.

In the latest revealed track from the group, the title ‘Mardi Gras Beads’ suggests a level of debauchery, but the song is actually a lot quieter than I ever expected. The probable reason? A different primary songwriter on it, Austin Brown. Watch its accompanying video filmed in New Orleans below. ‘Wide Awake!’ will be available on Friday, the 18th of May, on Rough Trade Records.
