Dirty Projectors‘ new single is a significant departure from their eponymous album from 2017. One would surmise that band mastermind Dave Longstreth has gotten to a better place following his breakup with former bandmate Amber Coffman. ‘That’s a Lifestyle’, the latest new material to be revealed from their upcoming summertime LP ‘Lamp Lit Prose’, has a cheerful, upbeat feel. You could say its accompanying promo video, entirely animated and starring Grecian statues acting human, is similarly playful, so it’s all intentional. Watch it below. ‘Lamp Lit Prose’ from Longstreth and co. will drop on the 13th of July on Domino Records. For past coverage on Dirty Projectors here on TGTF, come through.

If you’ve ever fancied seeing a bit of the National Parks in California, Dirty Projectors have come through for you. The band’s promo video for ‘Impregnable Question’, their sixth and final single from last year’s album ‘Swing Lo Magellan’, features gorgeous vistas of the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park. This ain’t your every day rock promo. It might even encourage you to get a bit more athletic. Watch the video below.

As part of their ongoing Like a Version series, influential Australian radio station triplej just had Dirty Projectors come into the studio and do this live cover version of Usher’s ‘Climax’ on Tom and Alex’s breakfast show. Watch the surprising performance below.
Watching the video, it was surreal and a bit squeal-worthy to see Tom and Alex again, as they’d been right in my face during the triplej ARIA Week showcase at Oxford Art Factory back in November when I was in Sydney. (Read all about that here.)

Dirty Projectors released this past week two more videos from their current album, ‘Swing Lo Magellan’. They’re for ‘Offspring are Blank’ and the title track. Since the songs are radically different, it makes sense the promo videos would be too, so watch both below.

Here are two new videos from Dirty Projectors. The first is a new film from called ‘Hi, Custodian’, featuring music from the band’s latest album ‘Swing Lo Magellan’ released over the summer. The visual has a surreal, almost Clockwork Orange / 2001: A Space Odyssey-type quality, and sure beats those as of late crummy Pinterest-commissioned videos.
The second is for their new single ‘About to Die’, the title track from a new EP out on the 5th of November, to be released on 12″ and digital formats. Pre-order the EP from Domino Records and be one of the first 50 to do so, you’ll get a 12″ signed by the band. Enjoy both visuals below.
