The purposeful controversy-causing London-based band VANT performed on the 12th of November at Newcastle Cluny. It was one in a series of shows on Dr. Martens#STANDFORSOMETHING autumn tour, which also starred twin brother dance duo Formation and Hackney MC Paigey Cakey. (A live performance by Formation from October at the Scandinavian Church in Liverpool on this tour can be watched here.) Today, we’ve got live video of VANT performing single ‘Peace & Love’ in frontman Mattie Vant’s childhood backyard of the North East. Watch the politically conscious band in all their live glory below. For more on the group here on TGTF, including a Q&A with him ahead of this appearance in the Toon, follow this link.

London dance duo Formation, twins Matt and Will Ritson, performed at the Scandinavian Church in Liverpool 2 Saturdays ago. The show ushered in this autumn’s edition of the Dr. Martens‘ #STANDFORSOMETHING tour with a bang. And for those of us who weren’t lucky enough to be present for the show, the brothers are sharing a live performance with their backing band from the night with us. ‘Ring’ is a brand-new track from the act, so this is a Pretty Big Deal. Watch the energetic performance from the North West city below.

Iconic British fashion brand Dr. Martens have just announced Formation, Paigey Cakey and VANT as the first three headliners on its Stand for Something Tour 2016. A fourth, for a show in London scheduled for the last Saturday of November (and somebody’s birthday, hint hint) is yet to be announced.
Twins Matt and Will Ritson, better known as dance duo Formation (pictured at top), will begin the series of #SFSTOUR16 on the 15th of October in Liverpool. On their participation in with the Stand for Something Tour, they said, “Formation means people coming together to express or celebrate something great. So we stand for a lot of things but ultimately it’s about standing together”.
Following the footsteps of Lady Leshurr, Hackney MC and actress Paigey Cakey, will perform on the tour on the last Saturday of October at the courtyard of Birmingham Rainbow. When asked what she stands for, her reply was: “I stand for myself, for one, but I wanna be the voice of the young people. I want to stand for the youth; I want to stand for something that means something. I feel like the youth of today need role models to look up to, so I want to stand for them.”
When asked the same question, politically charged band VANT replied, “We stand for equality, awareness of the environmental concerns of this planet and a better education for all of our children.” VANT released their EP ‘Karma Seeker’ last month. Of all the artists chosen to represent the strength of solidarity, Mattie Vant’s lyrics demonstrate well the strength of a dissenting voice during these uncertain times.
Saturday 15th October 2016 – Liverpool Scandinavian Church starring Formation
Saturday 29th October 2016 – Birmingham Rainbow Courtyard starring Paigey Cakey
Saturday 12th November 2016 – Newcastle Cluny starring VANT
Saturday 26th November 2016 – London (headliner and location TBA)

Brighton band The Wytches stopped by the small and sweaty Corporation club in Sheffield 2 Saturdays ago for a show on the current Dr. Martens’ #STANDFORSOMETHING tour that has been taking place this autumn across the UK. During their visit to Steel City, they stopped long enough for a brief chat backstage at the venue with Dr. Martens in this video, which also includes clips of the trio performing for their excited fans and stage-diving (of course). Watch the video from Sheffield below.
This date in Sheffield is in the middle of the The Wytches’ massive UK tour going on now. For all of TGTF’s past coverage on the Wytches, go here.

Two Saturdays ago, Scottish rockers Twin Atlantic held court at the famed Brudenell Social Club in Leeds for their turn headlining the Dr. Martens’ #STANDFORSOMETHING UK tour that has been ongoing all this autumn. In the below live gig video, the band perform ‘Heart Soul’, a live fan favourite and single from their 2014 album ‘Great Divide’. Twin Atlantic have said they won’t be performing this song again for a very long time – let’s try and think of this as good news: let’s assume they’ve got new material – but the band’s own pronouncement makes this performance all the more important in the annals of their history. Watch it below.

This year, on the 21st of June (aka World Music Day), Scottish rock duo Honeyblood spent the day doing a ‘flash tour’ of London as part of the Dr. Martens’ #STANDFORSOMETHING campaign. Over the course of their 10 hours in the British capital city, they performed four gigs, in Camden (The Hawley Arms), on Denmark Street (Wanjo Guitars), a skatepark in South Bank and in Peckham (Bussey Bar). You can watch a sneak peek into all the action of the day in the video below.
