Franz Ferdinand / February 2017 UK/Irish Tour

Franz Ferdinand have announced their return to the record shops next year. ‘Always Ascending’, their fifth studio album, will be available on the 9th of February 2018 on Domino Records. The day after its release, the Scottish rockers will begin a UK/Irish tour in Galway that will run for just over 2 weeks, concluding at Brighton Dome on the 25th of February. Tickets to the below dates will go on sale next Friday, the 3rd of November at 9 AM. While you’re waiting to pounce on those tickets, you can have a listen to the title track, embedded under the tour listings.

Don’t have any tickets to shows next year yet? Have no fear. The prolific and inventive Brewis brothers Peter and David, better known collectively as North East wonders of the world Field Music when they’re writing and playing together, have announced UK tour dates for next March. A presale for all these dates is currently taking place; the general sale begins tomorrow at 10 AM. A extra special show that will follow this tour on the 25th of May at London Barbican is on sale now; it will star strings, horns, woodwind and assorted percussion played by the Open Here Orchestra. Have you been wondering where those weirdos Gengahr have gone? (I say the word ‘weirdos’ with love.) The ‘Powder’ lads have announced their return, revealing their second album will be titled ‘Where Wildness Grows’. ‘A Dream Outside’, which didn’t impress me much but apparently was widely appreciated across the blogosphere, their debut album from 2015. They have also announced a UK tour for next spring; tickets are on sale now. Sløtface / September and October 2017 UK Tour

Norwegian pop punk band Sløtface will play a lengthy string of live dates in the UK this autumn, supporting their newly released debut album ‘Try Not to Freak Out’, which our own Steven recently reviewed. Sløtface’s UK dates will follow a run of live shows in Germany and the Netherlands and will precede the band’s show in Paris on the 27th of October.

Rat Boy / January and February 2018 UK/Irish Tour

Hip-hop/punk artist Rat Boy will open 2018 with a headline tour of the UK and Ireland. He’ll supporting his newly released album ‘Scum’. Described musically as being “like the Beastie Boys for the Brexit generation”, ‘Scum’ is out now on Parlophone Records and features the recent single ‘Laidback’. Everything Everything / February and March 2018 UK/Irish Tour

Following the release of their fourth album less than a fortnight ago, Everything Everything have announced a new UK and Irish tour, their biggest to date, for next year. The Manchester-based band will be taking ‘A Fever Dream’, out now on RCA Records, on the road in February and March. (You can read my review of the long player through here.) The tour kicks off at the venerated Dublin Olympia on the 28th of February 2018, then continues on in blighty 2 days later. The jaunt culminates in a show at London Alexandra Palace on the 10th of March.
