Bands to Watch #85: The Like

504243345_mI can’t believe it’s taken me this long to review The Like. They’ve recently finished recording in the studio for a widely anticipated second album and I personally can’t wait for a release date which is sure to come soon.  The all-girl trio rock band seemed to good to be true when they first broke through onto the music scene but It’s about time we got some new material.

Don’t get me wrong though, the last album “Are You Thinking What I’m Thinking” was by no means a failure and the hit single “What I Say and What I Mean” is an anthem you can listen to every day, but the record did not have much else on offer. The tune “June Gloom” was probably the next best thing and is easy to like with it’s huge chorus but I think we all know you need a bit more than two great tracks to become an established rock artist. In my view, the rest of the album was average at best and was a slight disappointment having heard the two singles.

However, you can’t always expect miracles and that was only the first of hopefully many albums from the trio. With the singles they’ve released the girls have shown the fantastic talent and potential they have , which is why I’m so stoked for the second record. I just hope that the new stuff is consistantly good and I personally can’t wait to hear the crunching guitars and pure vocals again.
