You remember Victoria Hesketh, aka Little Boots, right? Last Friday, she released a new EP, ‘Burn’, described on the press release as “claiming a darker, more atmospheric territory while retaining her signature pop sensibilities”. Hmm. Doesn’t that translate to “less of a dance banger”? There is certainly a iciness to ‘Picture’ featuring Detroit’s own Lauren Flax. ‘da Boots says of ‘Picture’:
It is about that moment when you think you’ve moved on from someone, then some algorithm or friend of friend you follow brings up a photo that can instantly drag you back in a heartbeat. It explores our relationship between technology and our powerlessness over the effect it can have on our emotions and mood. I collaborated with Lauren Flax on the track and love the way she built the beat, we sent instrumental parts back and forwards adding piano and strings until the track swells into a really lush hybrid of electronics and organics, all driven by a pulsing house beat and topped off with pop melodies.
It’s important to note that during this period of female empowerment in the music industry that this EP was released without a major label and collaborations only with female and femme producers. As Flax writes on Facebook, “@littlebootsmusic released this EP without a major label backing, with collaborations by only female and femme producers that debuted at #1 in America, the UK and Canada. We don’t need ghost producers. If you truly want to be in control of your world, your career and your future well being, take the time and learn your craft, be well to those around you and support other women. I hope this inspires girls and young women to do the same.” Well said! Check out ‘Picture’ below. For past coverage here on TGTF on Little Boots, use this link.

Little Boots released her third album ‘Working Girl’ on Friday on Repeat Records and to celebrate, she also unveiled the promo video for ‘No Pressure’ from the LP. Like the classic ’80s film starring Melanie Griffith, fierce suits and a sterile work environment are the order of the day. Except that in Victoria Hesketh’s world, there’s nothing wrong with letting go with a dance groove after hours once everyone else is gone. Oh, and when she takes the phone receiver away from you and leaves you to it. Watch the video in full below by clicking directly on it.
Little Boots begins a short American tour next week, beginning in Los Angeles at the Echo on the 15th of July. Read all of TGTF’s past coverage of la Boots this way.

Ahead of the release of her next EP ‘Business Pleasure’ on the 1st of December on Repeat Records / KLS, Victoria Hesketh (aka Little Boots) has revealed a new track from it and its promo. As you might expect, Hesketh had taken the title ‘Taste It’ literally for the video, but don’t worry, she assures us, “no models were harmed in the making of my new video.” Snort. I personally wouldn’t watch this while you’re eating, but maybe some of you have stronger stomachs that I do. And like feet in your sandwiches. Risk it below.
