As part of the ongoing 60th anniversary celebration of the Fred Perry brand and the relaunch of the Fred Perry Subculture Web site, Subculture has offered up these fantastic live videos from the Dot to Dot Festival in May of some of the brightest stars in music right now.
The live video below from Jake Bugg, currently on tour in America with headliners Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and Snow Patrol, will be familiar: it’s the song that broke him to the masses, ‘Lightning Bolt’. Kyla La Grange (pictured at top) is no stranger to TGTF either; we’ve got a video of her performing ‘To Be Torn’. And last but not least, we’ve also got live video of San Diego noise rock band Wavves playing their song ‘Bug’. Enjoy all of these videos below.

Field Music is one of few bands that has not gotten a single negative live review on TGTF. So when we found out that their performance at Primavera Sound 2012 at Barcelona on 31 May was available online, we jumped at the chance to post it. Watch it in all its glory below.

Kyla La Grange played London’s Village Underground in May and her next single, ‘Walk Through Walls’, which is out on the 30th of July, was filmed for posterity. You can watch the performance video below. We posted the official music video for the single previously as this Video of the Moment earlier this month.

I thought this post would be timed well, with Van Susans playing Leefest tomorrow, where I hear they will be selling limited edition tie-dye shirts. (Ooh.)
They band played a very short set for a charity gig in a pub in Biggin Hill, Kent, and I managed to film two of the songs they played: their most recent single, ‘Fireworks’, and the opening track of their ‘We Could Be Scenery’ EP released last year, ‘Cha Cha Bang’. Watch both below.

Interview by Larry Heath of www.theaureview.com

Having the opportunity to catch them several times live at Liverpool Sound City, Larry managed to grab the members of Liverpool outfit The Hummingbirds (not to be confused with the 80s Sydney band of the same name) to talk about their shows, performing for the Queen, The Beatles, their music and much more…
Let’s talk about what you’ve been up to the last couple of days. You were saying you had never busked before and you busked for the Queen!
Yeah, so it’s a good start to busk for the Queen. We didn’t know it was busking until an hour before, we thought it was going to be a full stage with amps and lights and we got a call just saying it’s completely acoustic, just take your guitars and just play. We always talked about busking though, we thought it’d be a cool thing to do with harmonies and acoustic guitars, we’re good live, it’s not like we’re a studio band. We couldn’t cancel, we couldn’t cancel on the Queen so we just decided to do it, and we’ve been busking all weekend basically.
Well you played the opening party a month ago and at the industry party Wednesday night, so you definitely are sort of ambassadors, official or otherwise!
It’s a big festival, so it’s great that they actually picked us to do the opening party in London and the party in Liverpool. The roof-top show today was a one-off so that was brilliant.

Brooklyn ‘it’ band Friends took the time out of their busy schedule in Brighton at this year’s Great Escape to perform the hit that broke them, ‘I’m His Girl’, for Bands in Transit. Not sure what is going on with Stephanie Urbani’s, um, style of dress, but watch it below and form your own opinion.
The band just released their debut album, ‘Manifest!’, on Lucky Number, and you can read Tom’s review of the album here.
