Sadly, I missed London’s Cloud Boat at SXSW 2014 (sob). But there is good news: a new album on R&S is supposed to drop this summer. I’m guessing this track, ‘Carmine’, will be on the second LP offering. Listen to and grab it while you can from the Soundcloud widget below.

The life of a music editor is, well, busy. That’s the only explanation (I know, weak) that I haven’t written a Bands to Watch on Dundee’s Model Aeroplanes yet. I think they’re great – I tipped them last autumn on Generator’s Tipping Point, so it’s not like I haven’t been in the know, hardly!
Here is your chance to get acquainted with them: a free download of new track ‘Innocent Love’. You’ll hear snatches of Two Door Cinema Club and Friendly Fires (no wonder I like these boys -they’re making me recall the early days of my blogging career in 2009 and I’m enjoying the look back!), but with harmonies. Listen to it below and if you like it, grab it for your very own. Enjoy!

Were you as spellbound by Spring Offensive‘s video for ‘Hengelo’ as we were? Well then, we have a treat for you this morning: an acoustic version of the song from the Oxford band for absolutely nothing. Listen to the track below and if you fancy it, grab it for your own music collection for free. You’re welcome.

When the NME describes a band as “…equal parts sordid, spiteful and slightly damaged”, it doesn’t give me a whole lot of faith. The Wytches of Peterborough want you to have their song ‘Gravedweller’, from their forthcoming debut album out later this year, for absolutely free. Grab it in exchange for your email address below. We’ve also handily embedded the promo video for the track below too. Wigged out, man.

Australian dance band Cut Copy are giving away this remix of ‘We Are Explorers’; the original form is available on the band’s fourth album ‘Free Your Mind’ released last year. As might be expected from a remix by DFA Records’ Larry Gus, it’s absolutely wonderful, with Cut Copy’s Dan Whitford oozing, “to me, this remix epitomizes everything that is incredible about Larry Gus. He is a master at collaging together obscure sounds and live percussion to create something magically evocative and new”. We agree!
The Australians have a conspicuous SXSW 2014-shaped hole in their touring schedule in March; nothing’s confirmed yet, but if you’re a fan, keep your ears to the ground just in case. Previously announced and currently on sale UK and Irish dates for April are listed here.
