This Week’s Gonzo – Klaxons have a visit with Alexa

By on Friday, 29th October 2010 at 12:00 pm

On tonight’s episode of MTV Gonzo, Klaxons spend some quality time with host Alexa Chung and reveal to us some little-known facts. Take this quote from Jamie Reynolds (who also guested as a panelist for Lammo’s Roundtable yesterday evening): “We asked Charlotte Church if she’d sing with us, she said she didn’t know who we were and she had a boyfriend.” Ooh, snap!

O Children from Liverpool make an appearance, as does Andy Serkis…you know him better as Gollum in the Lord of the Rings films and even more recently as Ian Dury in ‘Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll’. For a bit of a blast from the past, the recently reformed Suede provide you the viewers their ‘Greatest Hits for a Blagger’s Guide’, while London parody band the Midnight Beast boys point their fickle finger at ‘Pop Divas’. There’s even a performance by hotly-tipped Darwin Deez, playing his brilliant single ‘Constellations’. You won’t want to miss this episode of Gonzo.

Watch this week’s MTV Gonzo tonight at 7 pm on MTV Rocks, with a repeat at 9 pm on MTV.

WIN / Tickets for Inaugural Warehouse Project date in London featuring Delphic

By on Monday, 25th October 2010 at 3:20 pm

So this coming Friday evening (29 October), TGTF favourites Delphic will be headlining the first-ever London gig coordinated by the famous team behind the now legendary Manchester Warehouse Project. Other acts scheduled to appear include Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team, Filthy Dukes, Retro/Grade and Krysko. That’s not all. There’s also a second room to explore, hosted by Adventures in the Beetroot Field, the independent promotions collective best known for its Fabric and Field Day events.

Just answer the question ‘What is the name of Delphic’s debut album?” correctly, then enter your details on the form below before 8 PM GMT on Wednesday, 27th October, for your chance to win. We’ll pick one lucky person at random from the correct entries received for the pair of tickets. We’ll get in touch with you if you’ve won. Easy peasy, right?

Thanks for entering. This competition is now closed and the winner has been contacted.

This Week’s Gonzo – Graham Coxon, Magnetic Man, the Vaccines and more come by

By on Thursday, 21st October 2010 at 2:00 pm

This Friday’s new episode of MTV Gonzo promises to be a treat with some amazing guests. Graham Coxon, former (and perhaps continuing?) guitarist of seminal Britpop band Blur but now a solo artist in his own right, stops in for a visit with Alexa Chung, participating in an activity I’d never think of in a million years. The two personalities sketch each other!

Hot off the electronic scene, the talented chaps of dubstep act Magnetic Man also visit the Gonzo set. When confronted by the prospect of being up against Cliff Richard on the UK singles chart, band member Artwork proclaims, “Cliff Richard, I’ve got nothing against him I just want to beat him (in the charts)”. Not to be outdone, his bandmate Skream comments, “I just want to beat him up”. Yikes.

Recent blogosphere darlings the Vaccines come by to introduce themselves to the MTV-watching public. Judging from the hype surrounding their first single released this summer, ‘If You Wanna’, you’d be advised to keep an eye on this London quartet. If you’re looking for tips from your favourite stars, Gonzo has you covered as well. The Midnight Beast offer their unique point of view on boybands, and Kele Okereke recommends a new band. And if that weren’t enough, the show will also premiere a brand new promo video from My Chemical Romance. Whew!

Watch this week’s MTV Gonzo tomorrow night, Friday, at 7 pm on MTV Rocks, with a repeat at 9 pm on MTV.
