As announced earlier this year, Norwegian electronic duo Royksopp will be calling it quits (well, at least in this incarnation). Last month, they released their final album ‘The Inevitable End’, and here is the video for ‘Skulls’ from the LP. Filmed in the Norwegian forest and starring the very obliging 83-year-old homeowner Adolf whose abode was used for this promo. Get down with the cool Scandi kids and watch it below.

Norwegian electronic heroes Royksopp sadly revealed earlier this year that they would be releasing their fifth and last final album in 2014. Next Monday sees the release of ‘The Inevitable End’, and ahead of that, the band are streaming the entire LP for your listening pleasure. It follows hot on the heels of their highly successful mini-album collaboration ‘Do It Again’ with fellow Scandinavian Robyn. But before you get too depressed, please note that this does not spell the end of Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland’s music-making. Svein explains:
“We feel like this is a goodbye to the traditional album format. In our consecutive run of albums, we have been able to say what we want to say and do what we want to do with the LP. We’re not going to stop making music, but the album format as such, this is the last thing from us.”
The album will be released on Dog Triumph via Wall Of Sound and Cooking Vinyl on the 10th of November.

Norwegian electronic duo Royksopp have revealed this lyric video for their forthcoming single ‘Running to the Sea’, to be released on the 16th of December. It’s a slow burner, it will keep your heart rate pumping. Watch the lyric video below.

Royksopp have, in this about 14 minutes of lushness, managed to turn my Wednesday into a chill fest. Which is good, considering it’s the middle of the week and it’s very rainy in Washington (quite English weather, innit?) so this is a nice interlude of relaxation. Read all about it and an unrelated remix on their official Web site here and download it below. They describe it like this:
…we present you with a new Röyksopp track called ‘Shores Of Easy’. As you know, we never want to dictate how our music is being used, but we feel that this time, a small guideline is in place: this track is best served when calm. Thus, if you are so inclined – we feel that this could serve as a perfect soundtrack to that borderline state between being awake and being asleep – the state where everything seems possible.
Easy.

Norway’s Royksopp hasn’t released an album since last year’s ‘Senior’ (the record that understandably followed 2009’s ‘Junior’). ‘Keyboard Milk’ is the new track from them and it’s got a heavenly vibe to it. That is, you would expect such chill music to be coming out of the gates of heaven if, you know, God liked electronica. Listen to and download it below.

It’s been a while since we’ve written about Rokysopp on TGTF. In America, they’ve enjoyed success thanks to an unlikely source: their song ‘Remind Me’ was used in a Geico (car insurance) telly advert. While ‘The Drug’ may not be as overtly poppy as last year’s ‘Happy Up Here’, the Tromsø, Norway duo have created a vibey single guaranteed to get your toes tapping and neck and shoulders moving in unexpected, pointy directions.
‘The Drug’ was released on 9 August as a taster to the 13th of September 2010 release of ‘Senior’, their fourth album and the aptly-titled follow-up to last year’s ‘Junior’.
