Live Gig Video: Subculture featuring Trophy Wife

By on Tuesday, 13th September 2011 at 4:00 pm

This live video of Trophy Wife performing ‘Discovery’ comes to us courtesy of Fred Perry Subculture. It’s brilliant.

Read drummer Kit’s answers to the TGTF Quickfire Questions here. The band’s new EP ‘Bruxism’ drops on the 17th of October.

Thanks to Fred Perry Subculture, we have a live performance from London’s Romance playing ‘River Runs Red’. This video perfectly captures their energy live.

Live Gig Videos: Subculture featuring Guillemots, the Joy Formidable and Morning Parade

By on Wednesday, 3rd August 2011 at 2:00 pm

From the folks at Fred Perry Subculture we have some live gig videos from some of TGTF’s favourite acts.

Guillemots (pictured above) returned in 2011 with a new album in April, ‘Walk the River’ (Braden’s review here) and we have an entrancing live performance of ‘I Must Be a Lover’ at Nottingham’s Rescue Rooms. The hard-rocking Joy Formidable give us a blinding live version of ‘A Heavy Abacus’, their current single. (I interviewed the band in March: you can read the interview bits here: part 1 | part 2 | Quickfire Questions.) And the last video is of Morning Parade performing ‘Us and Ourselves’; look for the Essex band’s new album to drop in October.

Video(s) of the Moment #524: Dananananaykroyd

By on Thursday, 14th July 2011 at 6:00 pm

Dananananaykroyd‘s new video for ‘Muscle Memory’ sees the Glaswegian band don tracksuits and strut their stuff for a pair of boffins in lab coats. There’s even a ‘stupid party trick’ moment near the end that I think everyone will recognise and certainly everyone will laugh at. Also below is a filming of the same track as the band performed it live for Fred Perry Subculture. If you recall, on Tuesday we had videos from Hurts and Wolf Gang; if you missed them, you can watch them here.

Dananananaykroyd will be touring the UK in October and November; all the details are here.

Live Gig Video: Subculture featuring Hurts and Wolf Gang

By on Tuesday, 12th July 2011 at 11:00 am

Fred Perry Subculture have filmed several bands that they believe are the British music scene’s next generation of trailblazers, shot beautifully in intimate surroundings, and we’ll be posting these videos on TGTF. (And let’s face it, if you love a band, you’ll love them at their sweaty best, right?)

First up, Hurts (pictured at top), a band that John thought was super on the last day of Glasto this year, performing ‘Wonderful Life’. Next, Wolf Gang performing the single ‘Lions in Cages’.

And there’s another Subculture video on the way Thursday evening; we wanted to bundle the band’s new promo video with its Subculture live performance so you could get twice the effect. Stay tuned for that…
