Live Gig Videos: The Heartbreaks, the Jim Jones Revue and Wet Nuns perform at Tramlines 2013

By on Thursday, 25th July 2013 at 4:00 pm

This afternoon we’ve got for you some really spectacular live performances from this year’s Tramlines festival in Sheffield. First up, the Heartbreaks from Morecambe are at the Harley performing ‘Liar My Dear’, which frontman Matthew Whitehouse describes as being “about being a very, very naughty boy in a seaside town”. Ooher…

Next, we have the growly, garage rock stylings of the Jim Jones Revue (pictured at top) on the Main Stage at Devonshire Green, playing ‘Righteous Wrong’ from their blistering 2010 album ‘Burning Your House Down’.

Finally, Wet Nuns bring their punishing guitars and beats in this video taken at their Academy show.

Video of the Moment #1180: The Jim Jones Revue

The Jim Jones Revue have a new single, ‘Seven Times Around the Sun, to be released on the 13th of May on PIAS and Punk Rock Blues Records. While it’s less immediate and in your face than 2010’s ‘Shoot First’, it’s still got plenty of swagger and ‘tude. Watch the promo video below.

The band play a 4-day residency at London Sebright Arms from the 8th to the 11th of May, but sadly, it’s all sold out, folks.

Live Gig Video: The Jim Jones Revue collect antiqued live video clips for ‘Where Da Money Go?’ video

By on Thursday, 13th December 2012 at 4:00 pm

The Jim Jones Revue release their next single on Christmas Eve, the 24th of December, on PIAS and here’s the video. Featuring bits and pieces from their live shows, with loads of atmospheric scratches and other cosmetic blemishes added to the final film, the promo for ‘Where Da Money Go?’ looks aged when it really isn’t. To be honest, I’m not sure why they did it: are the blues supposed to be ‘old’? Watch it below.

Video of the Moment #388: The Jim Jones Revue

The Jim Jones Revue is a London garage band that I have taken a shine to. (Thanks Lammo.) For one, they sound like they’re not going to take any crap from anyone. Then there’s the stylised ‘look’ they have that reminds you of legends like Elvis (Presley, not Costello) and Little Richard. Below is the rough and ready video for ‘Shoot First’. Watch…and ask questions later.
