The Lost Brothers / January and February 2018 UK/Irish Tour

By on Thursday, 2nd November 2017 at 9:00 am

Irish folk duo The Lost Brothers have announced details of their forthcoming new album ‘Halfway Towards a Healing’, due out on the 26th of January next year. Mark McCausland and Oisin Leech recorded this latest LP in Tucson, Arizona, and its first teaser track has the distinct feel of the American Old West about it, with stark instrumentation, distantly reverberant vocals and a faintly Spanish-tinged rhythm in the guitar line. In case you missed it, our own editor Mary has written a full review of that first single, ‘Echoes in the Wind’, right back here.

Following the release of ‘Halfway Towards a Healing’, The Lost Brothers will embark on a tour of the UK and Ireland, including stops in London, Dublin and Belfast. Prior to their early 2018 dates, McCausland and Leech will play a handful of warm up shows in Navan and Omagh in mid-December. They have also announced a single American date, in New York on the 12th of March 2018. You can find a full listing of The Lost Brothers’ upcoming live shows on their official Facebook.

Frightened Rabbit / ‘Midnight Organ Fight’ 10th Anniversary March 2018 Tour

By on Tuesday, 31st October 2017 at 9:00 am

Yup, we’re getting old. Scottish indie rockers Frightened Rabbit‘s seminal sophomore album ‘Midnight Organ Fight’ will reach its 10th anniversary next year. To celebrate, the band have announced a trio of tour dates in the UK next March. They’ll be playing the album in full each night and for the very first time. Of the LP, the band say, “This album holds a dear place in our collective heart. It was the one that allowed us to believe that we could do this band thing. Really do it. It’s the one that made the people in front of us SING. Really sing. It’s the album I still talk about most with people I meet at our shows. The wee bugger will not go away, and we are alright with that.”

We imagine the tickets will go quickly for these gigs, so don’t snooze. A presale for begins tomorrow, Wednesday the 1st of November; the general sale will follow on Friday, the 3rd of November. The band’s most recent album, their fifth called ‘Painting of a Panic Attack’, was released last year. You can read Carrie’s review of the long player through here. Brian Fallon / February 2018 UK Tour

By on Monday, 30th October 2017 at 9:00 am

American singer/songwriter Brian Fallon has announced the follow-up to his 2015 debut solo album ‘Painkillers’. The new LP will be titled ‘Sleepwalkers’ and is due for release on the 9th of February 2018 on Virgin EMI. Just after the new album comes out, Fallon and his band The Howling Weather will embark on a UK tour, including stops in Manchester, Glasgow and London. Below the tour date listing, you can have a listen to the album’s first single ‘Forget Me Not’, which Fallon describes as being a bit contradictory to his intentions. “I was thinking how every song doesn’t have to be so serious”, he says. “It can just be fun. It can just be a song that I would want to play live. ‘Forget Me Not’ came out in just a couple of minutes and actually ended up being pretty serious – it seems my subconscious had other plans.”

Support for the UK tour will be played by fellow American songwriter Dave Hause. Tickets for the following shows are available now (please note that the London show has already sold out). TGTF’s previous coverage of Brian Fallon as a solo artist is through here, and our prior coverage of the band he fronts (fronted?) The Gaslight Anthem is collected back here.
